Three generations of strong women…
Throughout her life, Grandma Akiko enjoyed working, working very hard. She owned many businesses and partnered with renown designers, artists and vendors which stocked her stores with the best products for many years in Oahu in a thriving international market.
In the early 80’s Akiko and her husband decided to move their family back to Kaua’i where she along with her daughter Liz eventually became sole owners of the property and business where the Hawaiian Trading Post is in present day.
Almost 40 years later, the Hawaiian Trading Post is still family-owned and operated and the store is now managed by not only Liz but her oldest daughter, Gabi. The store also carries Don Cope jewelry, handcrafted by Elizabeth’s husband the in house custom jeweler for many years.
